The following is a note from the 7 October 1922 edition of IE.

New railways in Afghanistan - It is understood that the first railway which will be opened will be between Kabul
and Dar-ul-Aman, a distance of 6 miles. Engines and rolling stock have been collected at Kabul for the projection
under the direction of the Italian engineers, and it is believed that these engineers will shortly begin the work of
construction of the line. The suggestion is mooted of one paper that it would be better to make the line the kind of
electric tramway and that Kabul might by such means of communication be linked up with other suburbs in due course.
