A pair of WAG5 class freight locomotives belonging to the Bhusaval (BSL) shed of Central Railways haul an empty rake of BOXN class open wagons through Maula Ali yard just outside Hyderabad. A WAG5HR (#23621) unit belonging to Ghaziabad shed of Northern Railway passes through the level crossing outside Kosi Kalan in Uttar Pradesh. GZB still retains a small number of these locos, while the rest of this class have been transferred to its sister shed at Ludhiana.

A WAG5HB class locomotive is seen in Southern Railway territory to the north of Chennai. These variants of the WAG5 class have been built by BHEL and feature Hitachi traction motors. Due to the location of the BHEL plant at Jhansi, all units of this class are based in the same city to facilitate easy maintenance for the locos.

The sun sets over Nellore as a southbound BCN/A rake crosses the Pennar bridge hauled by a WAG5 unit from Arrakonam (AJJ). The Pennar riverbed is generally dry during summer months allowing for spectcular photo opportunities.

Would you believe that this picture was shot right in the heart of a megapolis like Delhi?? Well the truth is yes !!! An amazingly colored WAG5 class machine from Asansol (ASN) shed of ER passes through Kosi Kalan with a load of BCN/A wagons. Asansol locomotives are well known for their beautiful color combinations that sometime tend to border on the psychedelic !!!
