We had to get to Gandhidham Jn. to catch our train back to
Mumbai.
|
A mechanised pig, the cross breed of a diesel Bullet motorcycle
and a trailer. Found all over the area in large number poses at the
entrance of the road that leads to Gandhidham Jn. (GIM). Background
is what GIM is all about, trucks and more trucks. GIM is the
civilian face of the deep sea port of Kandla which is 12 Kms
away. |
|
As we enter the GIM station complex, the Anjar - Kandla port
passenger is just starting with its YDM4 power. Note the funny
sheet metal guard over the dynamic brake grid grill. This is an
'one-off' fabricated job, I have never seen another YDM4 with a
similar guard. Also note the upper quadrant starter at the end of
the platform at 'caution'. Both the MG and BG sections use upper
quadrant semaphore signals. |
|
A YDM4 homing to the GIM diesel shed returns to its perch. The
shed is near the other end of the complex. Thus the loco will
travel out of the station and then reverse back to its shed. Note
the driver's box on the short hood. The bleak background hides the
sparkling Kandla port and the deep blue sea. The fantastic spirit
lifting view can be seen from the overhead bridge between the
platforms. While on overhead bridge, you will also see the 30 odd MG
and BG lines used for marshalling. to the left of these lines. |
|
Two MG inspection saloons stabled in the VIP siding. This
siding is kept well painted and clean with a separate exit for the
special guests to enter and leave in style. The aroma around the
rake is of mouth watering chicken curry being prepared by the
resident cook within the onboard kitchen. |
|
A vintage North British YDM1 Diesel Hydraulic also waits to
return to the shed. Note the angled windshields. Both the doors to
the cab are located in the short hood. Sorry, I ran out of film
after this! |
