Approaching Makansar, the tender foremost YP 2805 leads the 416
Dn., while the YG 3430 waits with 413 Up Fast passenger. Note the
flag at the top of the first coach which would turn vertical in
event of an alarm chain being pulled inside this coach. |
|
The chimney blows black smoke as the blower is put on just
before stopping. This would create a draught, in readiness for the
steam required for the start this train after the halt of 3
minutes. |
|
The assistant driver is ready to surrender the token. Actually
the token is just a steel ball with individual markings, but the
hoop is needed for easy collection at speed. |
|
YG 3430 waits with its blower on. The token will be surrendered
to the person with the white pants (station master?). This ball
token will be inserted in the block instrument, and only then the
starter signal can be given for other trains to enter the section
presently occupied by our train. |
|
That was not to be! Our train is allowed go first and is handed
over the token for the next section, even as the 413 Up, which
arrived earlier is yet to start. As is the case with all the
stations on this section, there is only one platform, which is
occupied. Thus our train stands on the open track. |
|
416 Dn. starts at Rafaleshwar, the next station. The view is
typical of the area, dry arid land, scrubby vegetation and
countless chimneys from the many pottery units. However there are a
few large reservoirs and at least two river bridges on the
way. |
