Yes Apu.. that sure looks like the case. One can see that there is nothing connecting the arm to a cable or such thing - just the counter-weight.

How are the semaphores seen at night? There is no light behind the discs.

Oh so nice to look at the bustling station - there is even a tea stall on the right!! Far cry from the time in 2005 when we visited - this was a desertede area and we were wondering whether the station would ever see passengers again- really wonderful to see the sea change!

I remember our trek two years back at the very same spot to see the tracks washed away - a real heartening sight. Its great to the line in action once again - after news at that time that the line might never be fixed again:(. Vivek - is there a new alignment now since the tracks in the picture have not been fixed?

The space on right hand side of the track looks dangerously deep.

Great set, Vivek. You cannot escape from taking me on a guided tour to Matheran when I visit Dombivli next :-)

Hi Vivek. Thanks a lot for sharing wonderful pictures. 551 differs significantly than 501. It does not have bulge in hood and radiator looks smaller.

It is definitely the loco built at the Parel Workshop. The windscreens are similar to those in the pics of the new loco in the newspapers. It looks new too with a larger cab!
