The view from the 145 meter long viaduct 3. This is on the 3rd line from MHC and is sandwiched between two tunnels - behind us is the 1.26 Km long tunnel 42 or 16C - ahead of the viaduct is the 326 meter long tunnel 40 or 15C. The landscape here can be imagined as in the letter "D" - the straight section of the letter is the viaduct while the curved portion is the steep rock face of the Bheran Plateau. A narrow passage has been carved into the rock face probably to facilitate the construction of the viaduct - the only alternative to getting across would have been through the deep valley floor.
However once the viaduct was done, the railways probably demolished a section - maybe to prevent janata from using this relatively dangerous path. Between Monkey Hill and Nagnath on the 3rd Line of the Bhore ghats. 19th January 2008.
