The next stop was Kunigal, where land acquisition problems compunded by the long fight between the Railways and the Vijay Mallya owned Kunigal Stud Farm, through which the aligment was supposed to cut through had halted work on the outskirts of the town at both ends. So much so that this rock on which SR was painted decades back to indicate railway land and which had been repainted SWR recently still had active cultivation on it! What a pity - while rapid progress was seen on the line at some places, at other it was only cultivated fields! (Pawan Koppa)
