Howrah bound 7226 Amaravati Express climbs out of Hubli, parallel to the second track being laid in the section to Hospet. This doubling extends only for a few kilometers beyond Hubli. On the other side of Hospet, the tracks to Guntakal are already doubled and operational. Note the refrigerated parcel van and the pair of Tata trucks on rails for transporting ballast - only one is visible. To be fair, a pair of Leyland trucks in similar roles wait a few kms away from their arch rivals, on the same track. And yes, WDP4s do smoke lightly while accelerating. 27th June 2009. (Apurva)
