Wankaner steam shed of Western Railway held the distinction of being the last surviving metre gauge steam shed in India. It closed to steam in Feb. 2000(Read the Steam Update on this page). The remains of the shed were visited by Pankaj Pandey, Saurav Panwar, Pranav Patel and Bhaveen Patel on 2011-08-21 There are five steam Locomotives remaining; YP 2150, YP 2211, YP 2813, YP 2825 and YG 4129 YP 2150, YP 2825 and YG 4129 are standing inside the shed in very poor condition with lots of corrosion and parts missing. YP 2183 and YP2211 are painted and standing outside the shed in better condition with fewer parts missing.
