Double-headed WGs at Akola
Despite several thousand steam locomotives still surviving in India in 1978, a lot of main line freight workings had already been dieselised. The last main trunk route to see a majority of freight steam hauled was the Central Railway route from Bhusaval to Nagpur, which saw regular double-headed WG 2-8-2s at work on heavy trains. On 1978.12.09, WG8098 + WG8621 pause at Akola with a westbound working.
