The Venduruthy Bridge is built across he Vembanad backwaters. This is a rail cum road bridge and is one of the two bridges built by Sir Robert Bristow to connect Wellingdon Island with mainland. A new railway bridge is being built on the left. This is going to be a double line bridge and new bridge is expected to commence operations by August 2008.
