WAG Pics
This page is dedicated to those beasts which haul the freight on IR and help keep the country's economy going (Well at least a major part).
One of the newest beasts on IR, the high speed
freight loco, WAG9 (No. 31005) from GMO enters Delhi with a load of Coal and
Steel .
These are the pics of a WAG 9 with whom we got lucky. Me, my younger brother and fellow IRFCA'ian Vaibhav Sareen managed to spent the whole afternoon and till late evening in the cab of this loco along with the crew. We footplated in this loco from Faridabad uptill the home signal of TKD, a distance of around 10 Km. During that period I managed to take many pics of the loco which are here.
The Mighty WAG 9 from GMO(No. 31029).
A Pic of the cab of WAG 9 showing the throttle and BE lever in the middle and
the small lever behind it is the reverser currently in forward direction , the
computer display panel on the right. The big Red button on the panel is
Emergency stop switch , accompanied by the green light display ,on the left of
two other lights, which indicates constant speed of loco. The gauges in the left
corner are the various pressure gauges . The gauge in the top left corner
indicates the loco brake pressure, the gauge in the right upper corner displays
the train's brake pressure. In the extreme right upper corner you can spot a
part of speedometer.
This pic shows the braking lever and the gauges . The small lever near
the upper end of the flag is the horn switch.
A front view from the locos cab.
This pic shows a WAG 5 from CR bringing in a load of Oil tankers from down
south . The Blue loco is a WAG 5 from ASN waiting for a clear signal.
The Old and the New. A WAG 5HA from Jhansi (No. 23720), rushes past the
standing WAG 9, with a load of containers at high speed . Most probably this was
a Freight Rajdhani. Note the green flag being waved by the assistant.
The blue WAG 5 from ASN (No. 23815) prepares to stop with a load of flatcars.
A worn-out looking WAG 5 from LDH (No. 23252) rushes by at high speed with
another load of containers. Note the green flag being exchanged by the driver of
that loco with the Asst. of the WAG 9, who was standing next to me in the loco.
A WAG 7 from CNB (No. 27140) passes me at high speed at Anand Vihar.
A beautifully painted WAG 5d from SCR (No. 23377) with B-ZED-A painted on the
front in Devnagri script, waits on the loop line with a mixed freight. The loco
belongs to BZA (Vijaywada) shed of SCR. Anyway, I have
always been a great fan of the locos belonging down south because of their
liveries and nice painting just like this one and most of them bear a symbol of
their shed in middle like this one.
A WAG 7 from TKD (No. 27454) passes with a load of containers . Due to the big
container depot at TKD ,this line tends to see a lot of container action at many
times.
