A.K.A - Delhi Metro Rail

Delhi Metro was inaugurated in December, 2002. Unfortunately I was not there to enjoy it, but my younger brother, Ashwin, did a great job of covering the metro thoroughly. He went to the Shastri Park Depot, the stabling house of the metro and got up close and personal with the metro.  Enjoy the pics, and you will see what I mean. :-))))

dmrc1.jpg (55941 bytes)  A view of a metro trainset, from inside another one.

dmrc2.jpg (72184 bytes)  Three trainsets wait side by side, undergoing inspections and checks at the Shastri Park Depot.

dmrc3.jpg (46672 bytes)  A shaky shot of the trainset No.4.

dmrc4.jpg (49179 bytes)  A not-so-shaky shot of Trainset No.4.  These trains really resemble to their counterparts overseas.

dmrc5.jpg (73937 bytes)  A shot displaying the interior of the metro. Notice that the repairs and work is still going on. Also, its the only time its gonna be so

clean inside, because I doubt it's gonna be this clean once it goes into service.

dmrc6.jpg (47255 bytes)  A view of the cab interior of the metro. This is the lever that open up the emergency door, in front of the metro.

dmrc7.jpg (75569 bytes)  A view of the door opening mechanism inside the metro. Also, notice the warning on the door warning passengers about the gap

between the train and the platform.

dmrc8.jpg (39573 bytes)  A hazy shot of a Mercedes truck being used by DMRC people to check the rails. The truck is equipped with wheels to run on rails.

dmrc9.jpg (47807 bytes)  A pic showing the back panel in the cab of the metro.

dmrc11.jpg (53806 bytes)  A pic showing the cab and the controls of the metro. It seems like the controls are pretty easy.:))
