There are stretches like Irinjlakuda - Pudukkad where lines are straight for more than couple of Kilometres.

Cowans Sheldon is the manufacturer (Cowans Sheldon and Co.Ltd of Carlisle, England). The firm was founded in 1846 and have long been major suppliers of railway cranes, turntables etc. They are still in business (see http://www.cowanssheldon.co.uk)

One of the most stinkiest platforms even the Palghat Junction is same. I had a touch time driving away the flies at both the places.
