Folklore states that the Aluminium for this crest is derived from retired locomotive pistons.

One can see the old markings of the logo - which is comparitively big than the new one - underneath the new logo.

Usually GOC used to paint the Rockfort logo, but it seems it is a real photo taken & embedded on the loco.

Hope that railways do not officially change the name of Golden Roack to Ponmalai. BTW, Golden Rock is the english translation and name for Ponmalai
