Arzan, ever since the TN (along with AP and KK) Express was introduced in the late 70s, the stops were Jhansi, Bhopal, Nagpur, Vijayawada. I do not recall any train at any time skipping Nagpur. Durontos do not have commercial stops today, but there are technical halts.

I do not think the TN used to skip Nagpur at any point since its introduction. Would it be possible to provide some schedules that prove this?

Alok, agree with you that trains hit good speeds around Nagpur. But today TN and also Rajdhanis halt at Nagpur. In 1985, TN used to skip Nagpur station. That's what I had mentioned.

Thanks for this photo Ujjwal. Some things to note: The ROB seems to be in the process of getting a whitewash for the first time in several years when this photo was taken. You can see the remaining portion almost completely black with soot ;-). Arzan, TN and many high priority trains blast through the city at very good speeds even today - the yard has a fairly efficient layout for north-south trains arriving and departing from Platforms 1 and 2, thus reducing hold-ups seen at many large stations.

Thanks for this pic Ujjwal. I had been to Nagpur in 1985 and it was exactly in this way. During that time the Tamil Nadu Express zipped past Nagpur at a very high speed. I just can't forget that wonderful moment.

Notice the lack of plastic which makes the tracks even on a big station like NGP so very clean.

Wow! My Favourite TN in Raj livery. The Platform and the rails are far too cleaner than the present day. Thanks for the treasure, Ujjwal
