Spotted this btpln wagon as part of a freight formation at banaswadi railway station. It is quite an interesting design where the body acts as the chassis and is mounted directly on the bogie. I don't recall seeing this class of wagon in our gallery. (Anil Tharian)

High time a integral design like this came up.
One of the biggest cause of fires after derailments is the member of ladder type chassis piercing the tank.

IR did away with chassis on body for passenger coaches more than 50 years...

@ Jay sir: Sir, i have query about this design, i don't know much about the US railway network, but considering IR, do u think eliminating the chassis is a good option?

Thanks for this photo! It's about time IR adopted this design. This is the standard here in US. The weight saved in eliminating the chassis can now be used to increase the tonnage capacity of the tanker without increasing the axle load.
