We were at the Panval viaduct even before the birds woke up. We would have arrived even earlier, but took a wrong turn in the dark, rode up a steep country road and ended up at the smaller Pomendi viaduct, about a km before this place. For guidance, we had only satellite maps and local people's wisdom from the earlier night. Just as we arrived at this spot, the Madgaon bound 0111 Konkan Kanya zipped past with a WDP 4 in charge, but it was too dark to take pictures. 18th April 2008.
