A trip on the NFR
This album contains pictures taken during the journey on the Lumding-Silchar passenger by Tushar
The special lumding-silchar passenger train starting it's journey from Lumding and going through lush greenery before the ascent begins. This service is restored after 2 months since landslides buried the tracks. Only one train runs a day and that's why i
The loco has little to do with the plains hardly testing it's muscles and we had a smooth run for few km's.
A scheduled stop at maibong with people all around which is not the case for other smaller stations.
Destructive signs for BG track laying. The hill was sliced in the middle to make way for the BG whereeas the MG used to curve around it. Makes sense that the hill people are angry.
Crossing a viaduct near mahur. The hill section is full of such bridges and tunnels (36 in total). Sadly The BG will limit the no. of these bridges and tunnels to only a handful.
Zoom into the picture and you will see 3 levels of track and the ascent the train has made since its journey from Lumding. 22/07/2006 near MAHUR station Tushar
Notice the new earthwork near the loco which is a sure signs that the track subsided here and the workers can still be seen. 22/07/2006 after crossing MAHUR station Tushar
Captured the train on the bridge. 22/07/2006 after MAHUR station Tushar
Some more destruction BG has caused. The MG uses the tunnel but for big bully the whole hill has been chopped off and the track has been made more straighter. 22/07/2006 after MAHUR station Tushar
Crossing the Dyang viaduct. 22/07/2006 near LOWER HALFLONG station Tushar
The bridge on the left has been left forever and a new one built next to it which we are crosing at the moment. This diversion has caused the track to be more curvaceous. 22/07/2006 near LOWER HALFLONG station Tushar

Jatinga river next to the track. Zoom into the picture and you will find men and machine on the other side of the river preparing themselves for BG work. Here the BG track will be on the other side of the river unlike the MG track. 22/07/2006 near HARANGA
Beautiful scenery. Don't know how much damage the BG will cause to this. 22/07/2006 near HARANGAJAO station Tushar
