Nilgiri Mountain Railway - Mettupalayam to Conoor
We reached coonoor right time. The Steam was coupled to the train which had been brought in by the YDM4 from ooty, which in turn wuld now push the Metuplayam Connor train to Ooty.

The NMR locos are warmed up before the main run. This is done to prevent water hammer in the steam pipes and cylinders. What better way to do this than run the pinion while the engine is stationed on a track that does not have a rack.
The loco smokes and fumes as it pushes up the train up a one in 12.4 gradient.

A few of the locos are coal-fired and a few are oil-fired.
It is understood action is being taken to convert the "coal-fired" locos into "oil-fired" ones which job has been entrusted to GOC.
Dear VSP
Brilliant album Zubin. Keep up the good work.
