This is how the Nilgiri Queen looked on her 98th birthday. I promised her I would return in exactly two years. It is a oil-fired loco.
A look inside the steam loco. It is an awesome place with 7 X class locos and 2 YDM-4 diesels. In comparism with the X class even the YDM-4s look ultra modern

Nilgiri Mountain Railway derailment, 2006-01-17. Two wheels of the loco came off the tracks near Kallar. The train was moving at 13km/h when the derailment happened. None of the passengers or crew suffered any injuries. Photo by John John.
