WAM Series Locomotive Liveries

WAM-4

By far, the most common of all IR electric locomotives. This rugged and durable class was introduced in 1970/71 by CLW. Given that these locomotives have been around for more than 35 years an accurate rendering of all liveries worn by them is an improbable task. However a partial shed wise listing has been attempted below.

Arakkonnam (SR)

The default livery of the shed these days. It features a deep yellow band running through the centre of the shell with number and class written in yellow beside the cab door. The front face of the loco features the shed's logo flanked by two large lightning strike symbols on either side.

Arakkonam also has a few WAM-4 featuring a green/yellow livery. Locomotives with this variant are almost exclusively used to haul the Madras(Chennai) - Tirupati Saptagiri Express. Interestingly the entire train has the same livery as the locomotive.
